Established grinders such as two-time GUKPT champion Driton Haxhiaj, the popular Kevin Allen, Ben Winsor, partypoker pro Patrick Leonard, Mitch Johnson, former World Series of Poker Main Event champion Martin Jacobson, and Ludovic Geilich were just a handful of players who made it into the money.

Each of the nine players at the final table were guaranteed £7,400 and that is the sum awarded to Andreas Orthodoxou who ran out of steam in ninth-place. Orthodoxou was joined on the rail by Chris Kadji who committed his stack with top pair and a flush draw only to run into the pocket aces of Zack O’Sullivan.

Andrew Garland fell in seventh-place for £11,500, a fantastic achievement considering he had won his seat in the GUKPT London Main Event in an online satellite and had found himself down to a single small blind during Day 2.

Sixth-place went to Atanas Pavlov whose ace-jack lost a coinflip against the red tens of O’Sullivan. Pavlov paired his jack on the flop, O’Sullivan improved to a set on the turn and that was it for Pavlov.

The first of two anonymous players then busted. Known simply as “S.B”, the anon player moved all-in for nine big blinds with ace-deuce and was called by Alexios Zervos holding ace-jack. Neither player improved their hand, Zervos’ jack-kicker came into play and the tournament was reduced to only four players.

Fourth-place was originally meant to be worth £30,700 with the eventual champion banking £122,460. That was the case until the final four players decided to flatten the payout structure, reducing first-place to £100,000, second-place to £80,000 but boosting third and fourth-place to £60,000 and £45,800 respectively.

It turned out to be a good deal for O’Sullivan as he jammed all-in for 10 big blinds with king-three and was called by the second anonymous player who held ace-nine. An ace on the flop sealed the deal for the anon player and busted O’Sullivan in fourth-place.

Edinburgh – CANCELLED

Paul Siddle then busted in third-place after his top pair and inside straight draw failed to improve against the two pair of Zervos, which set up a heads-up battle against Mr Anonymous and Zervos.

Zervos got unlucky in two hands to leave himself with only 10 big blinds. This short stack went into the middle holding ace-four and Anon called with ace-ten of spades. The anon player improved to a flush by the turn to bust Zervos in second-place and bank the £100,000 top prize for himself.
